Uganda People’s Congress [UPC] has warned that the resurgences of corona virus 19 be avoided by creating awareness on the disease treatment and control measures.
“This experience of Covid – 19 resurgence needs to be avoided at whatever cost because of the dire consequences the world experienced,” UPC said
Speaking to journalists at Uganda House Kampala on Wednesday, Sharon Oyat Arach, the party spokesperson proposed for a global approach domesticated by each country given the spreading magnitude of the virus.
Last week on Friday evening, President Museveni resurrected Covid-19 restrictions ordering that unvaccinated should stay away from public gatherings, accessing public and private offices and public transport.
Museveni restoratored covid – 19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) wearing of facemasks, mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, vaccination certificates among others.
Similarly, UPC called for vigilance and the commitment to work to Government and all stake holders to be more vigilant and ensure more effective
“UPC is advising Government and all stake holders to be more vigilant and ensure more effective engagements interactions with the grassroots.” Arach said
She says that this will help in creating maximum awareness on the treatment and prevention of Covid – 19.
“This requires heavy commitment on the side of Government and other stakeholders that is expressed/reflected in budgetary support systems so as to achieve massive vaccination of the projected figures of 28.5 million eligible people (22 million adults and 6.5 million children).”
UPC further urged the general public to follow the guidelines outlined by the Ministry of Health regarding the fight against the deadly Ebola disease and asked Government to extend more support ebola affected areas of Mubende and Kasanda.
