Health Team in Kasensero Town Council in KYOTERA district have launched a manhunt for a male Tanzanian who escaped from a place where he had been isolated having tested positive.
The suspect is among the 9 cases who tested positive for COVID-19 in the area. He was locked in an undisclosed isolation place with other four where he escaped while health workers were waiting for an Ambulance van to transfer him to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
Dr. Ronald Reagan Mutebi, the leader of COVID-19 health team Kasensero Town Council confirmed the news stating that the health team with the help of police and the army have commenced searches for the escapee. He however expressed worries he may infect other people in the area.
Musa Bwanika Mutima, the LC III Kasensero Town Council said that health workers and authorities arevon search for the contacts of these 9 infected persons.
In the light to the above, Maj. David Matovu, the RDC Kyotera district said that heavy security armed to the tooth has been deployed on Lake Victoria to prevent illegal entries of Tanzanian nationals into the country. Maj Matovu is confident that the deployments woukd help in curtailing the possible spread of the virus imported by the people who enter into the country through French leaves.
