The Rt Rev Calist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale diocese, has today 18th November, 2023 officially opened the new parish of St Peters Buyanja.
During his sermon, Bishop Calist called on all Christians to follow the example of the first missionaries in Kigezi. He emphasized the importance of remaining strong in face of challenges, as the young parish would inevitably encounter difficulties. The Bishop expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed towards the establishment of the new parish and expressed his happiness that their efforts had come to fruition.
“The opening of the new parish of St Peters Buyanja by Bishop Calist Rubiramira signifies a significant step in expanding the presence of the church in the community and spreading the message of the gospel.
Dr. Chris Baryomusi the minister for ICT and National guidance, thanked the Bishop for responding to the cries of Buyanja people after asking for the parish for over fourty years.
He said as government they pledge to support the church projects for they contribute a lot in the development of the country. He also thanked Bishop Calist Rubiramira for his BAAF project (Bishops Annual Appeal fund that has helped to start the first Catholic University in Kigezi, the new university of St Ignatius university that will officially start operating on 8th January, 2024.

Fr. Benjamin the pioneer parish priest thanked Bishop Calist for entrusting him with the new parish and pledged to do all it takes to make St Peters parish Buyanja the model parish. He thanked the people of Buyanja for the warm welcome they rendered to him and the energy they put in to get the parish.

Dr. Edward Kazire the chairman steering committee also thanked the Bishop for honoring their request and giving them the parish. He encouraged Christians to always give back to God if they are to be blessed with riches. He said God has done wonders in his life because he always remembers to give back to God by contributing to the development of the Catholic Church.
Dr. Kazire on thanksgiving
