The Kabale Resident District Commissioner – RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma has banned Metal and Plastic Scrap trade in the District following numerous cases of theft including vandalism of road furniture.
While speaking yesterday, at a ceremony to handover the completed Construction of Rutooma Health Centre III in Kabale Municipality, Nyakahuma outlined a number of “alarming” cases of theft and house breaking that had influenced his decision to suspend Scrap business.
“We recently had a security meeting and we realized that it was too much.
Recently someone’s door was stolen at night, as he watched on. The thieves told him they would split his body into pieces if he dared shout for help” Nyakahuma narrated.
The RDC also revealed that a number of road sign posts and other furniture had been stolen and the thieves were majorly selling them to scrap dealers.
