Malaysian honorary consul to Uganda, Al-Hajji Habibu Kagimu has cautioned Ugandans especially the youth on the risks and dangers in unplanned journeys abroad and illegal immigration.
H.E Kagimu was speaking at a Think Tank discussion organized by Ambrosoli Consult Uganda Ltd at Serena Hotel Kampala yesterday.
He said many of the African youths are illegal leaving their countries to go and seek for greener pastures in Arab countries and Europe without informing their next of kins and others trafficked through neighbouring countries like Kenya which puts their lives at a risk.
“You do not need education to understand that you are going to a foreign country where you are going to visit someone that you don’t know. Ugandans love foreigners more than they love each other,” he warned.
He appealed to the youth particularly females to always follow the legally prescribed procedures to process VISAs and other travel documents whenever going to visit or work in foreign countries.
He emphasized on mindset change and attitude of Africans hating fellow Africans to trust fraudulent people who promise them fake mega deals.
The team leader, Ambrose Byamugisha commended H.E Kagimu for the accepting to pay a courtesy visit and deliver a presentation to the Thin Tank members despite his busy ramathan schedule. Byamugisha said it was an honor to host a man of great experience and expertise. To first timers, H.E Kagimu is also a celebrated businessman and the founder of Habibu investments chain of businesses, a holding company which includes oil and gas, real estate development, telecommunication and agriculture.
