Army court of Appeal has overturned the 8years, 8months and 6days jail sentence handed to convicted and jailed BODA BODA 2010 patron Abdallah Kitata and his Bodyguard Sowali Ngobi on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.
Justice Elly Turyamubina has now ordered that the two serve only one year, 8months and 6days after ruling that the said sentence was harsh and excessive.
Kitata was arrested in 2018 at Wakaliga after alleged highest violations of tortures and deaths of many Ugandans.
In May 2019 the General Court Martial sitting in Makindye sent Kitata to 8yrs, 8months & 6days in prison after finding him guilty of illegal possession of firearms.
The General Court Martial at Makindye has sentenced Hajji Abudallah Kitatta and his body guard Detective Constable Sowali Ngobi to serve 8years, 8 months and 6 days at Luzira prison on charges of being in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
