The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has injected over UGX 250 Million (USD 75000) towards supporting Bless a Child Foundation Home, which takes care of children living with cancer, located in Kampala Makerere Kikoni.
Dr. Patt Hill, the LCIF Chairperson and past International LCIF President, visited Bless a Child children home in the company of her husband, two days after launching a Comprehensive Eye Care Centre in Nsambya Hospital, also with support from LCIF this week. She hailed management of the Children’s home and that of Lions Club District 411B for their humanitarian gesture to support vulnerable children living with cancer in Uganda. She pledged LCIF continuous support towards eradicating cancer in children and called upon other philanthropists in Uganda to join Lions Clubs to make a meaningful life towards vulnerable communities living with cancer and other chronic diseases.
Lion Bonenon Kataate, Lions Clubs of Uganda District 411B Governor reiterated his appreciation towards LCIF. He reminded those present to put God before everything. He promised to support Bless a Child Foundation to buy land for construction of a children’s home in Mbarara City.
“We can do everything but it is only God who has the final vision”, he said.
Brian Walusimbi, Bless a Child Foundation founder and Chief Executive Officer and member of Lions Club, said the home hosts 18 children living with cancer. He hailed Lions Club District 411B and LCIF for their support. He said the money shall enable Bless a child foundation to buy a vehicle to transport food and firewood, in addition to buying land to construct a new home as they rent the current one at an exorbitant price.
He said the children suffering from cancer are brought in from vulnerable families who cannot afford treatment in hospitals and says; the children’s home supports them to get treatment and basic education.
Lion Dr. Emmanuel Kisaame, pledged to provide firewood to the children home from his farm in Kayunga District. Lion Noreda Kiremire, also promised to donate food items to the children’s home.
