Deputy Chief Justice Richard Butera and a total of 8 other justices have kicked off handling of 124 cases in the court of appeal.
The cases constitute of 39 constitutional petitions ,22 applications ,43 civil appeals and 18 applications.
According to the Ag.assistant register court of appeal Mary Babirye the cases that have started on Monday at the court of appeal sitting in Kampala, will be handled within a period of 1 month.
She says the court will focus on written and not oral submissions except on rare occasions where clarifications will be needed.
Justices Georey Kiryabwire,Elizabeth Musoke,Hellen Obura,Monica Mugyenyi will preside over the cases while Barishaki Cheboroin,Stephen Musota and Christopher Madrama will handle civil appeals.
Court will be handling 2 election petitions from the 43 civil appeals filed in 2020 and 2021.
Another petition involves the Attorney general -AG challenging Forum for Democratic Change -FDC over a defiance campaign in contravention of Article 1(1),1(3),1(4),2(1)and 3(1).
