KAMPALA: The police leadership has come out to strongly condemn the use of its image as content in a Controversial Commercial Advert of an energy drink popularly known as “Mukamanayamba”.
The advert deceptively suggest that police emergence team of the “999” Patrol Pick-Up and its crew actively responded to an incident where a pack of “Mukama Nayamba” energy drink was grabbed by an alleged thief, during the recording of the advert.
The Uganda Police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga has said that the appearance of officers in uniforms and the use of police logistics for work outside police duty is strictly prohibited without the express permission of the Inspector General of Police.
Enanga was addressing the media during the police joint security weekly press brief at Police headquarters in Naguru Kampala, where he stressed police professional unit is investigating the officers for this selfish act.
“These officers for their selfish gains used appeared for a commercial advertisement without such approval and are a subject of investigation by the Professional Standards Unit.” Enanga said.
Means to speak to Samuel Byaruhanga, the director Mukama Nayamba Health Products were by publication time still futile but our reporters will publish to you a manufacturer’s comment regarding this subject.
