Authorities in Rukungiri are concerned about the escalating number of sex workers in the area.

Christine Kyomuhangi, the Assistant District Health Officer Rukungiri District says that commercial sex in Buyanja and Rwerere town councils is on rise something that worries leaders.

According to Kyomugisha, people including the divorced, children below 18, men and women, married and unmarried come from as far as outside Rukungiri districts to go and buy commercial sex workers in Buyanja and Rwerere which she says may increase prevalence of HIV/AIDS.
