Uganda like most African countries is experiencing exponential urban growth and expansion at a very alarming rate. Uganda’s population stands at 34 million on people with an annual growth rate of 3.4 percentage. Urban population is about 3.5 million people growing at an annual rate of 5.1 percentage.
It was said by the Jinja Lord mayor, Mr, Peter Okecha Kasolo , that Uganda’s Urban development is at 27 percentage. He said that some few areas need to be looked at as well so as to hit the expected percentage of 50. These were mentioned as increasing on the low tax collection and poor infrastructure.
Generally, Mr. Peter Okecha pointed out physical planning as a key area for the government to focus on.
