Did Pr Bugingo and Suzan Makula Set a New Record for the High-profile Pastors Divorce and Remarriage?

Last weekend, famous city Pastor Aloysius Bugingo and his beau Suzan Makula Nantaba announced they are moving together in marriage after a mega introduction in Kitende Entebbe. The couple had secretly dated and been cohabiting since 2018 or even before; they first came to limelights in 2019 when the pastor announced had separated with his Ex-spouse Teddy Naluswa Bugingo, and had kept in touch since.

“Since you are my friends, let me tell you. On Tuesday 7th December, my love Suzan Makula will be introducing me to her parents. Clap for me if you’re excited about it.” Bugingo said before adding, “For the first time, a woman is going to introduce me to her parents,”

The couple’s split is, of course, not the first time a pastor divorce has dominated the headlines—nor is it the first high-profile remarriage involving a shepherd.

There are many spiritual leaders that have had whirlwind romance with their spouses and as it is a talk of the city currently, it ended in tears after they divorced, citing irreconcilable differences.

Here, a look back at more high-profile Pastor divorces in recent history:

Pastor Aloysius Bugingo

Since 2019, House of Prayer Ministries International Senior Pastor Aloysius Bugingo has been trying to divorce Teddy Naluswa, his wife of three decades, so he can marry his employee, Susan Makula.

The excited man of God has even already announced that today Makula is introducing him to her parents.

“For the first time, a woman is going to introduce me to her parents,” Bugingo said on Sunday while leading prayers at Canaan Land in Makerere Kikoni.

Pastor Steven Mutesasira

Steven and Julie were married for quite a long time and have three children together. Their marriage unfortunately ended with a divorce in 2016.

In 2020, he remarried, tied a knot with his new wife Judith Mutesasira in a glamorous wedding at Faith Power Centre, Entebbe.

Pastor Edwin Musiime

Pastor Edwin Musiime, the Chairman of the Crest Group Ltd, an investment firm and the founder of Transformation City Ministries in Uganda that has affiliations with Transformation City Church, in Australia and his estranged wife Isabella Lydia Masozera broke up over cheating allegations. The Pastor accused Isabella of cheating on him and the wife did the same. The marriage was full of counter accusations of infidelity.

In 2019, Edwin Musiime wedded another woman Christabell Musiime. The couple shared a meal with their guests at the plush Kampala Serena Hotel, following their introduction ceremony at Christabel’s home in Mutungo. They also had a boat-cruise pre-wedding celebration.

Pastor David Livingstone Kiganda

Pr. Dr. Livingstone Kiganda and his wife Cindy Kiganda. Kiganda says that his wife was still a Virgin till marriage.

Pastor David Livingstone Kiganda, the founder and senior pastor of Christianity Focus Centre Church in Mengo Kisenyi, lost his first wife to a chapatti seller. His wife couldn’t settle for less in bed and decided to cheat on him. When the pastor got to know, he felt embarrassed and the woman fled their marital home.

In 2013 Kiganda married another woman Cindy Kiganda in an expensive wedding which took place in Harare Zimbabwe where they exchanged vows and promised to stay together for better for worse.
