Amolatar District has received a new fully-equipped Type B ambulance to boost emergency health services in Kioga Constituency.
The vehicle, registration number UG 3100-203, arrived on Friday and was handed over to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer. The official commissioning will be presided over by District Woman MP Dr. Agnes Atim Apea, who will officiate on behalf of Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng.
The ambulance follows a request by Dr. Apea in August 2022 to the Ministry of Health, seeking to address referral gaps in the constituency. The Ministry approved the request in line with the National Emergency Policy 2021, which seeks to provide an ambulance to every constituency and national referral hospital.
To sustain its operations, the Ministry has pledged to cover running costs. According to communication from the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, the district will be allocated a fuel card to facilitate the ambulance’s missions.
Health officials and community leaders have welcomed the intervention, noting it will cut emergency response times, improve patient transfers to advanced facilities, and save lives across Kioga Constituency.
