“Kakwenza Rukirabasheija, author of the ‘GREEDY BARBARIAN’, was arrested again by CMI operatives today at 6:30 am from his Iganga home.’ Dr. Kizza Besigye has posted.

Dr. Besigye further revealed that according to the author’s wife, Kakwenza could have been arrested because of his unpublished book the “BANANA REPUBLIC.”

Political animals say the New Book recounts the grim torture of how CMI arrested, detained and tortured the author for seven days when he was arrested in April.

According to his lawyers, Kiiza & Mugisha Advocates, Kakwenza was arrested Friday morning 18th September 2020.

“The CMI operatives had the audacity of tell his wife and area LC 1 Chairperson they were arresting him over his continued writing of literature critical of President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta, Uganda’s over 34 years military leader,” the lawyers said.

Currently, Mr Kakwenza’s whereabouts are not known.

This is the second time as the author is  being arrested by military operatives as he was kidnapped in April because of his first ‘fictious’ book titled GREEDY BARBARIAN.

Court later ordered the state to produce him, and was arraigned before Iganga Magistrate court on charges of doing an act likely to spread the infectious disease coronavirus contrary to section 171 of the Penal Code Act.

Prosecution alleged that on April,6, 2020, while at Busei A village in Iganga district using a min- Lenovo laptop unlawfully and negligently posted messages on his facebook account mobilizing the public against complying with the directives and public health guidelines issued to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

However, the case was last month dismissed by the same court on grounds that the prosecution side lacked witnesses.

About the BANANA REPUBLIC.

Though his new book “BANANA REPUBLIC” is not yet published, the meaning of the title expresses what content is in the book.

According to dictionary.com the term Banana Republic literally refers to a small, poor country, often reliant on a single export or limited resource, governed by an authoritarian regime and characterized by corruption and economic exploitation by foreign corporations conspiring with local government officials.
