Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, president of the Forum for Democratic Change – FDC has asked president Museveni andd his government to produce a list of members of the opposition political parties he alleges are masterminding security attacks in the country.
“Instead of telling us exactly who has been involved in this, Museveni is giving blanket statements on the attacks of security personnel. He is probably going to say that the attacks in Ntoroko were by opposition political parties.” Amuriat sai
Recently, Museveni linked the recent spate of attacks on security personnel and establishments to political actors.
But, Amuriat says that this is a trick by president Museveni to arrest and detain members of the opposition as well as suppressing their voices.
It should be recalled that assailants have been attacking security personnel at police stations in different parts of the countries killing and injuring some before running away with their guns.
In similar incidents, there have been cases of insecurity and inter community skirmishes in Karamoja region coupled with cattle rustling inwhich many civilians lost their lives. This according to Amuriat is violation of human rights largely by the UPDF soldiers in the name of enforcement of the law and order.
He suggests for dialogue to end insecurities in the country than political counter-accusations.
“We believe a lasting holistic solution with political will in hindsight is dialogue of warming faction, social Economic intervention by IGAD member states which would be the case of ushering the region into transformation other than embarking on arms disamarment, compaigns which has been ongoing forever without lasting peace,” he said
Furthermore, Amuriat punched holes in a move by the Uganda Police Force (UPF) top leadership to merge numerous police posts stating that it is meant to protect officers’ lives from errant attacks but not protecting life of Ugandans.
