KAMPALA
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev Samuel Steven Kazimba Mugalu, has called on Ugandans to embrace peace and desist from corruption as they celebrate Easter.
Delivering his Easter message on Thursday at his residence in Namirembe, the Archbishop urged Christians to reflect on the true meaning of the season, which symbolizes sacrifice, renewal, and righteousness.
Kazimba emphasized the need for integrity in both public and private life, warning that corruption continues to undermine the country’s development and moral fabric.
He appealed to leaders and citizens alike to uphold honesty and accountability.
He also encouraged Ugandans to take an active role in environmental conservation by planting trees, noting that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that will benefit future generations.
The Archbishop further expressed concern over the rising cases of drug abuse among the youth, describing it as a growing threat to the nation’s future.
He called on parents, community leaders, and young people to work together to address the vice and promote healthy lifestyles.
“As we celebrate Easter, let us choose the path of peace, care for our environment, and guide our young people towards a better future,” he said.
Easter is one of the most important events on the Christian calendar, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ and offering a message of hope and new beginnings to believers worldwide.
