Church of Uganda Archbishop, the Most Rev. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu has praised the late Emeritus Bishop of Ankole Diocese, George William Tibesigwa for his role in resolving conflicts in the church.
“Bishop Tibesigwa’s wise counsel on conflict resolution will be missed in the church and the faithful,” he said
Archbishop Kazimba was speaking as the main celebrant at the funeral service of late Rt Rev Tibesigwa at St James Cathedral Ruharo in Mbarara city today.
In his sermon, His Grace Samuel Kazimba Mugalu commended the late Bishop a very good teacher who taught him sociology at Bishop Tucker Theological college in Mukono district.
He was assisted by the Bishop of Ankole Diocese, Rt Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa who eulogized the deceased as a father, brother, wonderful friend, and humble servant of God whose contribution to the church will be dearly missed.
The deceased wife, Mama Efrance Tibesigwa said her husband will be remembered for his simplicity, humility and friendliness.
Speaking at the funeral service, the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda said that Uganda has lost a great potential and hardworking religious leader who loved peace ,unity and national development.
She described the late Bishop’s death as a big loss and a blow to the National Resistance Movement. The minister was represented by Cris Rwakasiisi, former minister and senior presidential advisor.
Emeritus Bishop Tibesigwa has been the presidential Advisor on religious affairs in the Southwest Ankole region.
