Former FDC leader and the People’s Front for Transition national Chairman, Rtd Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye has revelead that arrangements to return released Sam Mugumya are underway.
Mugumya whose release details remain confidential has been in coolers for over 8 years in Ndolo Military Prison, Kinshasa and four of his colleagues on allegations of possession of illegal documents and huge sums of money linked to ADF rebel group in Eastern Congo.
On Friday, reports of his release circulated on social media and no details of his return was released.
Commenting on the release, Dr. Kizza thanked the Almighty for the release of his former aide.
“Thanks be to the Lord that Comrade Sam Mugumya is out of Ndolo Military prison, having spent there 8 years!” Besigye tweeted
He revealed that there are ongoing arrangements with the Uganda Embassy in Kinsasa to process travel documents for Mugumya to allow him return home.
“Arrangements are being made with the Uganda Embassy in Kinshasa to secure travel documents and return home.” Besigye added
Four other colleagues that were arrested alongside Mugumya are according to Dr. Kizza Besigye still incarcerated in prison.
By press time, the foreign ministry of Uganda had not issued any official communication on Mugumya’s release reports.
