The curtain comes down on the return leg of the Bubangizi Senior Secondary School’s alumni league this Saturday at the Prime Arena Kawempe.
Four teams took part in the second league comprising both male and female alumni and from different academic years.
The teams are not strange in terms of naming as they have a long history of school jargons and nicknames for teachers at Bubangizi.
Bubangizi SSS popularly known as Bubz League is like benzene and xylene for the old students and organizers, this is a dream come true because the old boys and girls from the school and other neighbouring schools come through to support their own.
Rwekisigazi FC Vs Ensolo SC was the curtain raising game at the second leg in the ewe morning hours and the game ended in a 3:0 in favor of the hosts, Rwekisigazi FC. Hunters FC Vs Akareere FC was the second match to play and the Hunters won 3:1.
The old school banana leaves football players, Akareere FC were again surprised when the undeniably skilful Ensolo SC took a 5:1 lead despite the former’s attempts to score in vain. The team did not bag any point in the second leg positioning them to the bottom of the table.
Hunters FC would later on fail to find a way denying Rwekisigazi FC a spot in their goal nets and lost 2:0 in the leg’s closing match.
The Bubz League now awaits for finals which will be played at the Alma Mata, Bubangizi SSS in 2024 at a date that will be communicated by technical team.
Organizers announced to the alumni community and well wishers, sports fraternity open opportunities to sponsor the league and her activities. The Bubz League is themed: “Working as one people of BUBANGIZI ALUMNI Network through Games and sports #BubzLeague.”
