Councillors in Lira City West division have petirioned the City Clerk over their Assistant Town Clerk, Lillian Ocare’s failure to implement city resolutions.
In a letter to Lira city town clerk by the speaker of Lira city west division speaker Daniel Okello, the councillors accuse Ocare of Incompetence asking the clerk to take action against her.
The councillors also accuse Ocare of neglecting her office saying that she last set feet in her office on 30/11/2021.
In the letter, Okello further accuses Ocare of using her individual capacity to change the names of the taxi park to Lorry Park without consulting council.
Okello has consequently summoned an emergency council meeting slated for 6/1/2022.
Lydia Akello the councilor of Kirombe and Junior Quarters ward said a council resolution on improving the status of Junior Quarters market has not been implemented by the assistant town clerk.
Patrick Awongo the councilor of Odokomit ward decried high level of corruption in Lira city West division and called upon the resident city commissioner Lawrence Egole to intervene to save tax payer’s money.
Awongo also asked Lira city mayor Sam Atul to begin monitoring projects in Lira city West division to ensure value for money.
He accused Lira city West mayor Michael Ogwal Achonga of failing in his duties of managing the affairs of the division.
Mugisha James the councilor of Lango central ward and Samuel Akaa from Teso C ward said the division has failed to realize any tangible development due to the weak leadership of its mayor and assistant town clerk.
Lira city west Mayor Michael Ogwal Achonga denied the allegations saying that they are implementing the council resolutions.
Lillian Ocare could not be reached for comments since her phone was switched off by press time.
