KAMPALA
National Drugs Authority has today closed Friends drug shop in Najanankumbi church zone, in Kampala on allegations that they administered a drug to a 1 year and 3 months old baby that killed her on 28th December.
Abiaz Rwamwiri, the authority public relations officer says Annet Nakuya the drugshop attendant is under police custody on allegations of carrying out illegal clinical services while the operator identified as Baguma Forasi is on run being persued by police.
He adds that the authority has also withdrawn their operational licence noting that drug shops are not licensed as treatment centres but to give out drugs that are prescribed by doctors and other qualified prescribers.
He also warns ugandans to be vigilant by choosing right treatment centres that are licensed to cary out clinical services and these include clinics and hospitals both public and private.
