HARARE
Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government is determined to end street vending in the the City of Harare, Zimbabwe’s Central Business District.
The ban on Street Vending dubbed ‘Zero Vending’ will effect tomorrow, Wednesday 12th March, 2025, according to reports. Reliable sources from the Southern African country shows that the directive is jointly supported by the City council and the central Government

This was revealed by the City of Harare director of housing and community services, Mr Addmore Nhekairo during the launch of a revenue collection blitz on Monday.
According to Addmore, the city and the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works are joining hands to stamp out illegal vending on the capital’s streets.
“That one is a serious issue and is going to be done by council and central Government,” he said.
Although the gvt say they will get rid of all vendors from the CBD of Harare and Chi Town, civilian experts argue that street vending serves as a survival strategy for many Zimbabweans in a struggling economy, with 94.5% of employment being informalized and 86% of vendors relying solely on vending.
