The police in Buhweju are holding in their custody a bar owner and five others still at large on alleged charges of murder by stabbing of one of the revellers at the bar.
The deceased is Prosper Baingana, 30, a resident of Karengyezo Cell, Nyakaziba Ward, Nyakaziba Town Council in Buhweju District.
According to a police statement which was seen by Parrots Media, the deceased was last seen on the night of March 5 in a bar of a one Beingana Ambrose, 38, a businessman and resident of Karengyezo of the same area.
It is alleged that while in a bar, the deceased developed a misunderstanding with other revellers in the bar which suspectedly caused his murder.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that in the night of 5/3/23, the deceased was last seen in the Bar of one Bengana where he was engaged in a quarrel with some local residents,” Police said in a statement.
A case of murder to the prejudice of Prosper Baingana was reported at Bihanga police station on that fateful night at around 9pm and police started on inquiries vide CRB 120/2023. The deceased body was discovered the next morning
Police arrived at the scene of the crime to ascertain the situation, documented it and made several arrests.
The owner of the bar inwhich a quarrel ensued, and other five suspects have since been arrested and are currently detained at Nsika police station in Buhweju.
Police have identified suspects as Abaho Abel, 25; Aliza Joseph, 18, Mubangizi Collins, 20 and Kakuru Andrew, 21, all residents of Nyamashazu Village, Rukiri Parish, Bihanga S/C in Buhweju district.

Another is Akandwanaho Patrick,21, resident of Dromu Village, Rukiri Parish, Bihanga S/C in Buhweju District. No weapon that was used in the murder has been recovered by police.
But, a medical report from Nsiika Health Center IV where the deceased body was taken for Post-Mortem shows that examination results are consistent with murder by stabbing.
