ICT Minister and Kinkizi East MP Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has reiterated the government’s commitment to youth economic empowerment, emphasizing that ongoing programs aim to lift young people from economic hardship to self-sufficiency.
Speaking to hundreds of youths gathered at Kihanda Full Gospel Church on Friday, Dr. Baryomunsi said that various government initiatives are tailored to support the youth in engaging in productive ventures.
“The government is focused on ensuring that young people are not left behind. These programs are designed to transition you from the hard economy to the sustainable income and economic independence,” he said.

He urged the youth to actively participate in government programs and take advantage of the resources made available to them as well as investing in entrepreneurial initiatives.
The minister further underscored the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) dedication to supporting young entrepreneurs, expressing gratitude to President Museveni and urging continued support for his leadership in fostering sustainable development.
During the service, Baryomunsi donated 100 bags of cement to Kihanda Full Gospel Church and 150 iron sheets to Nyaruharo Church of Uganda to support their construction projects.
Saphira Kyakunzire, a resident of Nyakatooma Parish, urged fellow youth to seize opportunities for income generation, positioning themselves for government assistance.
Additionally, twenty young people crossed to NRM from different opposition political parties, citing the government’s positive economic impact and anti-poverty efforts as their motivation.
