NATIONAL
As the nation was glued on Radio and Television stations listening and watching to the reading of the national budget for the Financial year 2022/23 at Kololo ceremonial grounds, the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) leader Rt. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye has been in down town Kampala at Mini Price Building resuming his protests against government inaction to cushion vulnerable Ugandans against skyrocketing commodity prices in the country.
At around 1pm, police seized Dr. Besigye who he mobilized city traders to wake up and join him in what he described as “the struggle to liberate Uganda from President Museveni’s government that has been in power since 1986”.
As he addressed the large cloud, he was intercepted by dozens of law enforcement officers on Namirembe road who arrested him and impounded his motor vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser.
Hundreds of thousand “Red Card” fliers had been dropped all over the city street with messages calling for reduction of the cost of living by cutting the taxes on fuel and essential goods
He is being detained at CPS Kampala
