The Bishop of Pentecostal Assembly of God Uganda Rev. Sylvanus Ogwal has been released by the chief magastrate of Lira court on a non-cash bail of one million .
Rev. Sylvanus Ogwal was being accused of causing bodily harm to Peter Odika which is countraly to section217 of the penal code act
It is alleged that Bishop Sylvanus Ogwal had a physical fight with Peter Odiko recently at Teobwolo village, Akia in Lira city East division that led to the removal of Odiko’s four teeth.
Ogwal after pleading guilty to the offence ,pleaded to court to grant him bail because he is the sole provider of his family and has to pay school fees for a number of his children.The bishop added that his wife recently underwent a brain surgery from India.
Thechief magstrate Abiti Samson Loum told court that he does not like a situation where a man of God gets involved into violence, describing it as ridiculous.He added that there are so many avenues of settling disputes peacefully.
Abiti urged parties involved in this dispute to use this time of bail to settle the matter through dialogue and mediation then report to court on the 6th January 2022.
Abiti gave a non-cash bail of one million shillings to the accused and sureties who are Charles Opio Olo and Okello William Owelo were also bonded at shillings one million, non-cash.He warned that if both parties don’t agree ,he will fix the matter on the same date of hearing the matter
