A Boda Boda cyclist has been knocked dead in a hit and run accident in Kabale district early this morning.
The accident occurred today (December 19) at at around 06:45hrs at Kikyumbi village, a long Kabale Katuna highway.
Elly Maate, Kigezi region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Morris Nuwagaba, 35, a Boda Boda Rider and resident of Katanga village, Mparo sub county in Rukiga district.
According to Maate, Nuwagaba was riding on a motorcycle registration number UFG096K red boxer red in colour
from Katuna towards Kabale town when a trailer that followed him hit and killed him instantly.
“A trailer also from same direction which is not yet Identified by its number plate, when it reached Kikyumbi at the humps, the m/cycle rider lost control felt down and died on the spot,” Maate said
Traffic police led by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson, OC Traffic Kabale assisted by Cpl Tumwebaze visited the scene of the accident documented and recorded statements from eye witnesses.
The body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem while the motorcycle is parked at police pending inspection by iov.
Police has already started investigation into this matter referenced TAR 119/2023 to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
