Kitara FC has parted ways with coach Brian Ssenyondo and the entire technical team effective immediately, following disappointing results in the new Uganda Premier League (UPL) campaign. The Royals find themselves in the relegation zone with only four points from six league matches, having managed just one victory.
“Kitara FC would like to announce the mutual parting of ways with our head coach Brian Ssenyondo and their entire technical team effective immediately,” read an official statement. “The decision has been made after thorough deliberation, with the collective interests of Kitara FC and its supporters in mind.”
Ssenyondo, unveiled as the new coach on 14th June 2023 amid high expectations, expressed his commitment to elevating the club. “It is a big honour to be at Kitara Football Club. I will give my best to see that the club is elevated to the highest level with the best brand of football, well-built from the back and offensive minded,” he said at his unveiling ceremony.
Despite his promises, Ssenyondo’s tenure has failed to meet the expectations of his employers. Under his leadership, Kitara finished fourth in the Premier League last season and won the Stanbic Uganda Cup. To strengthen their squad, Kitara signed players like Patrick Kaddu, Umar Lutalo, and Ronald Otti, who were expected to compete for the title. However, the team now sits 11 points off the summit.
Ssenyondo joins Richard Malinga of Mbale Heroes FC, Baker Mbowa of Express FC, Sadiq Sempigi of Lugazi FC, and Nikola Kavazovic of Vipers SC in the list of coaches who have lost their jobs this UPL campaign.
