Bukwo district Chief Administrative Officer, Charles Ogwang has been announced dead after unknown assailants gunned him down inside his vehicle and later caught fire
The incident happened on Tuesday night (July8) at around 2309hrs in Bombo.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson said the deceased was travelling in his official vehicle UG 0865 Z when the assailants shot at him several times causing injuries to him
He said the incident was reported to Police after they heard gunshots at Kiryowa, Mabanda, Bombo Road near Banu Petrol station.
“The officers from Both Matuga and Kasangati police stations rushed to the scene only to find the car on fire . The Police fire prevention and rescue services responded and managed to extinguish the burning vehicle.” Owoyesigyire said
Ogwang was rushed to Bombo Military Hospital by the first responders. Unfortunately, few hours later, he succumbed to the bullet injuries this morning at around 4am
Inquiries into the motive of this shooting are ongoing according to police.
