BUIKWE
Rasto Kalanzi, the man who gained notoriety after posting a viral TikTok video claiming to be a member of rebel group ADF that attacked and killed students of Lhubiriha secondary school in Kasese, has been denied bail and remanded by Lugazi Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nankya.
Kalanzi had hoped to secure bail when he appeared in court today monday 17th July but to his disappointment he was told by Her Worship Nankya that the officer incharge of his case was not present in court.
Kalanzi had on 4th July confessed that the video was made in error, but the magistrate decided to remand him until July 17th. Kalanzi was charged with inciting public violence and spreading malicious information through TikTok, which he denied.
The magistrate remanded him as he had no sureties to support his bail application. Kalanzi was a boda boda rider based in Namengo near Kawolo in the Buikwe district.
Her Worship Nankya later further remanded him till 8th August when he will appear before the grade one magistrate for bail hearing.
Today’s hearing had pulled a lot of people who were eager to know Kalanzi’s fate after applying for bail. Most of which were disappointed about the court proceedings.
