A catholic church leader in DOKOLO district has been suspended from his office after he allegedly stolen a cow from one of the rural farmers.
The suspect is Musa Otoi, a leader of Legion Mary church in Dokolo district. He was removed from office by fellow church leaders and ordinary Catholics accusing him of stealing a cow belonging to Immaculate Akweri, a christian.
The LC1 court of Alao , Awelo parish , Adeknino Sub County, Dokolo district presided over by Moses Otim levied a fine of shs.200,000 and a hen against Otoi after he was found guilty of the charges.
This is not the first time a local court in Lango fines a local over theft of an animal.
In June 2019, Palamyek clan court sentenced man to 100 strokes of the cane and shs 350,000 over theft of a cow.
Patrick Okello 25, according to the report night stole a cow belonging to Tom Anam, a resident of Otweodel village, Amugu Sub County in Alebtong district.
He was found with a cow in Ngetta Sub County, Lira district where he was planning to take it for sale at Amach Market.
He was taken back to their home in Otweodel village where his elder uncle, the sub clan chief of Palamyek in charge Amugu ordered him to be subjected to a fine of 100 strokes of the cane in addition to 350,000 to facilitate the youth who arrested him and recovered the cow.
Okello was detained at clan chief defense and later received his 100 stroke punishment.
