A shocking incident unfolded in Kyamufumba village, Butuntumula subcounty, Luwero district when a resident Taxi driver was allegedly stoned to death in a confrontation after he caught red-handed his wife having an intimacy with another man in their marital bed.
Charles Bunjo, 54, a resident of the same address was fatally stoned by his wife Regina Namande on the evening of Boxing Day. It is alleged that on the fateful day, Bunjo while returning from work found another man, Emmanuel Kyalufenge visiting his wife and confronted him with a panga and chased him away.
The confrontation escalated into violence when Namande (the wife) reportedly started singing provocative songs mocking her husband, resulting into a physical fight.
Norah Nakiguli, the deceased first wife says she recovered the panga from their husband but Namande (second wife) pelted a stone onto him, leading to his untimely death.
“…she hit him with a stone in the stomach. He ran to our neighbor, Patrick Serunga where he died shortly,” Nakiguli said.
Local authorities reported that the deceased has been a known victim of domestic violence by his wife. It is reported that in July, Bunjo reported to the local council office that his wife had attempted to hack him thrice but pleaded to police not to arrest her.
The Savannah Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sam Twineamazima said the suspect was arrested and is currently detained at Luwero CPS, and investigations are ongoing. Bunjo’s body has been handed over to relatives for burial following a postmortem examination at Luwero hospital.
Residents accused police of not taking up Bunjo’s earlier reports which they say he should not have died if police and relevant authorities had followed up the matter.
