Residents of Kangulumira Town Council in Ntenjeru South, Kayunga District, participated in a significant event over the weekend dubbed ” Patriotism Community Baraza ” where they discussed developmental issues and patriotism.

The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for the community to engage with leaders and various stakeholders to address their pressing concerns.

Organized by the Kateregga Community Foundation in collaboration with the State House National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) under the stewardship of Commissioner Hellen Seku, the event aimed to foster civic engagement and strengthen relationships between citizens and government institutions.

The inaugural community Patriotism Baraza, which attracted thousands of local residents, created a platform for residents to address concerns and key issues in areas such as security, wealth creation programs like PDM, infrastructure development, healthcare, and education.

In her message, delivered by NSPC Principal Communications Officer Ian Gumisiriza Jeremiah, Commissioner Seku emphasized the importance of public participation in governance.

“The main purpose of the community Patriotism Baraza was to share ideas, listen to residents’ challenges, testimonies, and success stories, and forge ways to improve service delivery to all Ugandans,” noted Seku.

She affirmed her commitment to addressing citizens’ concerns and pledged to work towards practical solutions.

“We shall organize such barazas in different communities to listen to people’s concerns and find ways to address them,”

“A case in point is the issue of insecurity, which has been already handled by the IGP, who has put in place the Sub-County Policing model, assuring the public that eighteen police officers will be deployed at every sub-county to ensure much-needed security,”

“The residents also raised concerns about a government school charging exorbitant fees; we will investigate to resolve the issue,” Seku added

On behalf of the Kateregga Community Foundation, Livingstone Kateregga, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Ntenjeru South County expressed gratitude to NSPC and Commissioner Seku for a meaningful and fruitful partnership.

“I believe that when we work together, we can achieve great things, unlike previous leaders who shunned government programs aimed at liberating people from poverty,” Kateregga said. “I want to thank Commissioner Seku for coming to Ntenjeru with her team; we hope the issues raised by the community will reach the President.”

At the same event, over 100 residents defected from the National Unity Platform( NUP) to the National Resistance Movement(NRM) and endorsed President Museveni as their sole candidate for the 2026 general elections.

Now, the residents await the president’s approval of their endorsement.
