Police in Rukungiri district have arrested a couple for allegedly murder of a family friend who went missing moments after an altogether booze.
The suspects identified as Benon Baguma and his wife Rosette Tumuhimbise are alleged to have murdered David Mwangirake, 86yrs, all of whom are residents of Rushebeya cell Murama parish, Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district.
It is alleged that on September13, 2020, the deceased was called by his friend Baguma Benon to share a booze at his first home. Later on, Baguma left for his second home leaving Mwangirake at his first home.
Mwangirake then decided to go back home but did not reach and a case of disappearance was reported on 15/9/2020 at Nyakishenyi police while the search continued until September 17, 20020 when he was found lying dead in a trench.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police Spokesperson says that Police reached at the scene of the crime after getting a notification and two suspects who were last seen with the deceased (the couple) were arrested to help in investigations.
He added that a postmortem was carried out and a murder case recorded at Rukungiri central police under case file number: CRB 1738/2020.
