Chief Magistrate court led by His worship Kenneth Komakech yesterday sentenced a 31 year adult man to four years in prison and three million shillings fine for intentionally removing a left eye of a 13 year old with a stone.
Tushabe Joram, a resident of Nyabaremura Cell, Rubuguri town council in Bukimbiri County is the convict while the Victim is Gumisiriza Denis of the same residence.
While appearing in court for the first hearing on 5th April 2023, Tushabe pleaded guilty of doing an act intended to cause harm.
Court records indicate that on 31st January, Tushabe hit Gumisiriza’s left eye with intention to disable it. The eye was injured and removed, losing sight thereafter.
Speaking to our Reporter, the Victim’s father Byaruhanga Nyasiyo commended Owebeyi James, a professional lawyer and former aspirant for the Bukimbiri constituency parliamentary seat for leading his son to justice.
He also says that his son Is living with much pain, especially routine headaches during the nights, a major challenge to him.
Owebeyi James thanked the court for making a timely ruling saying that the violence done on the juvenile was uncalled for.
Meanwhile he says that he has plans of instituting a law firm in Kisoro district so that he continues advocating for the less privileged.
