Police in Kampala on Saturday shot dead a father for attempting to sacrifice his 5-yr-old son.
The incident happened on Saturday October 17 in Kisalosalo Kyebando, Kampala district.
The Dad identified as Suleiman Male,28, a resident of Kisaasi who also doubles as a craftsman allegedly picked his 5-yr-old child child Isamu Male, from their home to Kisalosalo Kyebando while wielding a sharp machete. On reaching Kyebando, he went into the house of his friend a one Ismail Ssesanga forcing out all occupants of the house.
These according to Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan police Spokesperson notified police which responded without hesitation to the scene only to find out that Male had locked himself and the child inside the house.
Police asked the him to release a child in vain something that prompted them to break into the house after a long period of pleas.
“All peaceful efforts to demand him open the door and release the child failed. The officers forcefully gained access into the room he had locked himself in. He was found holding the child’s head down with one hand and another hand raised up with a machete ready to cut,” Owoyesigyire added.
Owoyesigire added that the officers asked him to drop the machete and declined swinging the machete which put the life of the child in danger.
One of the security personnel then shoot him trying to rescue the life of an innocent child. Unfortunately, the Dad died on spot whereas the five-year-old child was saved.
The deceased’s body was taken to City mortuary for a postmortem as investigations into the cause of the incidents are ongoing.
