Officials at Lira District Local Government have warned residents on fraudsters masquerading as district workers and extort money from the public promising them jobs.
“Some unidentified fraudsters are extorting money from job applicants of Lira district under the guise of helping them secure jobs,” Patrick Ogwal Enyiema, the District secretary for finance said
According to Enyiema, there are reporys at the district that some self-seeking individuals impersonate Lira district staff asking for money from the job applicants.
On Monday, a non-disclosed resident from central park, in Lira city East division was allegedly corned unspecified amount of money by the yet to identify people to connect him with the job at the district.
Ogwal has appealed to the public to report anyone who asks them for money to influence their recruitment by Lira district Local government.
