The114 asylum seekers that crossed to Uganda earlier today have returned home to Kasindi town, DRC as we had earlier reported in our morning publication.
The 114 Congolese had gained entrance to Uganda side through Mpondwe Lhubiriha town council in Kasese district after being terrorized by gunmen believed to be the ADF as reported by the Resident District Commissioner.
This was after the group was convinced by the DRC forces that normalcy was restored. Some of the asylum seekers said they were worried about their property and relatives back home.
The government of Uganda has been providing asylum to thousands of Congolese refugees fleeing violence in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ADF, a rebel group operating in the region, has been responsible for numerous attacks that have left many dead and displaced many more from their homes.
