“On the morning of February 15th, 2023, Police registered a matter of abduction of school children . Upon receipt of this information , all Officers in Kampala Metropolitan were alerted to intercept the said vehicle that was carrying the alleged abducted children,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement

It is alleged that a maid in one of the homes gave in the children without taking precautions of the Van. Further reports allege that the first two kids must have led the van to the next pick up location where three other kids were picked.

A case of alleged abduction was reported to police and an operation to intercept the vehicle started.

Police heightened security at all checkpoints and at approximately 10:00am, the vehicle bearing registration number UBA 291C, Commuter Taxi that contained five school children was intercepted at Kyagwe road.

Police from CPS Kampala arrested and impounded the vehicle to Kitezi Police Station, where the case had already been registered.

“All of the victims, who were school children, were safely rescued and escorted to Kitezi Police Station for further management.” Owoyesigyire confirmed.

He assured members of the public that police are doing relentlessly to ensure safety of all citizens, particularly children and urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
