Kasujja Warns Against Secularism as UMU Trains Chaplains to Tackle Youth Crisis

A tragic road accident occurred today, May 5, 2025, at approximately 5 PM in Makindu Village, along the Kisoga–Nyenga Road. The crash involved a Scania motor vehicle, registration number UAV 701C, belonging to YY Company, which was traveling from Katosi to Jinja when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire.

Authorities have confirmed multiple fatalities, though the identities of the deceased are yet to be established. Several passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Kawolo Hospital, St. Francis Lwanga Hospital in Buikwe, and other nearby health facilities for urgent medical attention.

Emergency services, including Uganda Police, swiftly responded to the scene, working to extinguish the fire and recover the bodies of those who perished.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kananura Michael, the Community Liaison Officer at the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.

“We are doing everything we can to manage the situation and assist the victims,” SP Kananura assured the public. Authorities continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

This tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while traveling. More details will be shared as investigations progress.
