Speaking to journalists amidst the scuffle, the Lord Mayor condemned the mayhems at the party ahead of their planned 16th National Council Meeting today.

“The environment here is tense, hostile and it’s not consistent with the expression of the members of the National Council and everybody is on tenterhooks,” said Lukwago “I am not a personal non grata at the FDC, I am a bonaifide to the party, the deputy president. And we are here to deliberate on the state of the affairs in the party,”he said

Today, the National Council of the FDC is convenes at Najjanankumbi to discuss findings of the report by the Elders Committee on the alleged unknown sources of money that came into the party in the 2021 general elections. The money estimated at Shs7b was allegedly received from the ruling NRM government.

Lord Mayor Lukwago however alleges that the report has been in the hands of the accused group; SG Nandala Mafabi and the party president Eng Patrick Oboi Amuriat doubting credibility of the findings of the report.

“There is a report to deliver today, unfortunately, the reports we are getting is that the reports that is supposed to be delivered today has been in the possession of the accused group (Nandala Mafabi and Patrick Amuriat) for almost two weeks. They have doctored it and want to use this kind of scandalous methods of sailing through this process,” Lord Mayor alleged.

Moments later, Lukwago got into his car and left the premises for an unidentified place

The deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura accused Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi and President Patrick Oboi Amuriat of deploying goons at the party to fight party members opposed to their alleged misconduct.

She demands that the Council Meeting be cancelled until a lasting solution is found.
