Opposition political party, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has prayed for peace and harmony in the forthcoming Easter festivities.
“As we contemplate those glorious wounds, our unbelieving eyes open wide, our hardened heart break open and we welcome Easter with peace and openness to reality,” FDC urged
The remarks were made by the party deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo while presenting the party’s Easter message to Ugandans at Najjanankumbi on Monday.
FDC admits that the country is grappling with many economic challenges but appeals to christians of good-will to share the little they have with the vulnerable and needy persons.
According to the FDC, the intense circumstances making majority of the population impoverished is due to the bad leaders like Museveni who have mismanaged the country’s economy. They also prayed for Christ’s resurrection into christians’ lives, homes and in Uganda.
In addition, the party has condemned security interference and arbitrary arrests of Rev. Willy Kintu Muhanga and his other five christians for organising prayers over president Museveni’s empty promises.
Rev. Muhanga and five others including David Musinguzi, Thomas Kakuru, Patrick Amanyire Kasoro, John Chris Katusiime and Henry Kyomuhendo Atom were recently arrested and remanded to Katojo Government Prison for organising prayers over government’s unfulfilled pledges for Tooro sub-region.
According to the FDC, the arrest is a violation to the freedom of worship and limits Ugandans to demand for better service delivery from the government.
