Forum for Democratic Change has announced a break up with the People’s Government and warned it’s leaders against calling party members.
“FDC National Executive Committee (NEC) reached a consensus to recall the resolution that established the People’s Government,” FDC said
Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the party president said they will no longer participate on any activities associated with this group unless the conflicts between them are resolved. He said the decision was reached at after a period of reflection and thorough internal discussions with NEC members.
After losing in the 2016 general elections, Dr. Kizza Besigye established People’s Government with the aim to defend and restore constitutionalism and rule of law in the country as well as boycotting and defying government programs. The decision attracted criticism from a section of the public including members of the FDC.
Speaking during e media engagement on Monday, Amuriat said their relationship with the Katonga based People’s Government is not working out calling for a divorce.
He accused leaders of the People’s Government of issuing notices using FDC headed papers, using party symbols, slogans and colors illegally, and hurling insults to the FDC leaders. He said this abuses the party brand and threatened to take legal actions against the culprits.
It should be recalled that since the allegations of dirty money within the party which caused divisionism in FDC, the Najjanankumbi group has been warning against having two centres of power which they say has caused mayhem to the party.
But, Amuriat said the party can no longer manage two centers of power and asked party members to shun away from individuals (Katonga group) calling themselves interim leaders to split the party for their personal interests.
He noted that they will not tolerate divided loyalty by party members and threatened disciplinary actions against errant party members who are going against party constitution.
I gree with the party decision I they decided to be hostile to there own party why we continue, doing political business with such people
It is a great shame a father completely abandons his children and takes the steps of another woman. Colonel should revisit his mind and get back home where he can win. Apologies are usually taken and sorry exists in the english vocabulary. I beg to submit
