Police in Ntungamo District is investigating circumstances under which one block containing two male dormitories caught fire at Kyamate secondary school at around 9:00pm killing one student that is yet to be identified and injuring three.
The Police Fire and Rescue services responded and was able to contain the fire though the cause of the fire has not been established. This is the second destruction caused by fire in the same month after the Kyamakanda Senior secondary school in Buyanja, Rukungiri district.
ASP Samson Kasisira the Rwizi regional police spokesperson has confirmed this and said the body of the deceased student was taken to Itojo hospital mortuary and the other three that sustained injuries are also receiving treatment.
Inquiries are still ongoing into the matter more details to follow.
