Police in Rubanda registered a single serious accident that involved an ambulance and a number of passengers were injured.
The accident occurred yesterday 4th March at around 15:50hrs at Ntaraga village Ikumba sub county along Kagunga Kabale marrum road Rubanda district, when Motor vehicle registration no. UAL 194J Toyota Land cruiser white in color ambulance attached to Kiizi health centre III lost control and overturned as they rushed an expectant woman to Kabale referral hospital.
Among the occupants was Busingye Brandina 25yrs, a midwife and resident of Nyarugaragara village, Nyamabare parish, Ikumba subcounty in Rubanda district, Byomugabe Wilson 45yrs, the driver, a resident of Ntaraga village, Ntaraga parish, lkumba subcounty in Rubanda district, Nyinaguhigwa Brandina a resident of Kashasha village, lkumba subcounty in Rubanda district, Nuwamanya Anociate a female juvenile of around 2yrs, daughter to Nyinaguhigwa and Ntegyerezi Veneranda 52yrs also a resident of Kashasha village, Kashasha parish, Ikumba subcounty in Rubanda district.
It’s alleged that the above ambulance was heading to Kabale rushing an expectant mother who had been reffered to Kabale Referral hospital from Kiizi HC III but the driver lost control due to over speeding and went off the road and overturned several times and ended in the valley about 25meters from the road.
All the five people on board survived with injuries and were later rescued by another ambulance from Kabale Referral hospital that was called to help the victims.
The scene was later visited by ASP Wakatuma Alamanzani DTO Rubanda and team who drafted a sketch plan and towed the ambulance to police that is now pending the IOV inspection report.
This case was registered at Rubanda police as case number TAR/015/2023 and this was confirmed by ASP Elly Maate the regional police spokesperson for Kigezi.
