Former Erute County North Member of Parliament, Hon Charles Angiro Gutmoi Abac has passed on in a motor accident at Murchison National game park near Ayago bridge along Karuma-Pakwach road.
Gutmoi, a member of the FDC served Erute County MP for three terms from 2001 to 2011 and 2016-2021.
The accident according to reports occured after the vehicle Toyota Regius registration number UAW 943A in which the former legislator and eight others were traveling in veered off the road and overturned multiple times as the driver tried to dodge ramming into a stationary trailer.
Two people, Hon. Gutmoi and another woman identified as Deborah, daughter to Rev Sam Erick died on the spot. It’s alleged that the occupants were heading to Nebbi for a traditional wedding of Rev. Sam Erik’s son.
Four other people including the driver, the wife to former Lira Municipality Mayor Mike Ogwang Olwa Veve sustained serious injuries and have been rushed to Anaka Hospital.
This is a second accident involving a prominent individual stemming from stationary trailers. On Thursday night, renown business mogul Apollo Nyegamehe popularly known as APONYE died on spot in Itojo Ntungamo after his car rammed into a stationary trailer.
