In an extraordinary turn of events, Efrance Kobusingye, a 52-year-old resident of Nyaruhanda in Kabujogyera Town Council, Kitagwenda district recently gave birth to quintuplets – three girls and two boys at Neocare fertility clinic in Mbarara city.
Kobusingye, who got married to retired teacher Tunanukye Clesensio, 62, at 19 years of age for 32 years delivered the babies by cesarean section at Neo Care fertility clinic in Mbarara City on monday 30th at only 28 weeks of pregnancy.
Due to their premature birth, the quintuplets were immediately transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital in Nyamitanga for specialized care.
Overjoyed yet surprised, Kobusingye shared her 32 year emotional journey of waiting over for a child. Despite numerous medical checkups and hospital visits, she was never informed of any fertility issues.
“I’m thrilled, but also overwhelmed,” Kobusingye said. “The financial burden of trying to conceive was immense, and I had almost lost hope.” She added.
Tunanukye Clesensio expressed his gratitude, saying, “After 32 years of waiting, these quintuplets bring unimaginable joy to our marriage. We’re blessed beyond measure.”This remarkable birth is a testament to the power of hope and perseverance.
The couple said though they are happy for having had the babies but are also worried how they will manage to raise the five babies in the hospital. They appealed to all good Samaritans to come to their rescue to enable them raise the children.
