The Banyanrwanda community in Uganda under their umbrella, Uganda-Banyearwanda Cultural Development Association have suspended with immediate effect self-centred socialite Frank Gashumba from all Banyanrwanda related activities over misrepresentation.
Simon kaitano, a leader in the association says Gashumba was dismissed over misrepresentation and violation of Banyarwanda values and identity.“We have suspended Mr. Frank Gashumba from today and onwards because he has violated the cultural values and norms, and identity,” he said.
The suspension follow several attempts by Gashumba to change the identity of Banyarwanda in Uganda to Bavandimwe, but, Kaitano says this is divisive and diminishes their ethnicity.
“His proposal to to change our ethnic identity to Bavandimwe is divisive and diminishes our values and identity. The fact that he is close to the president we do not fear him. We are all Ugandans,” added Kaitano.
It should be recalled that Gashumba recently logged a complaint to Uganda Bureau of Standards opposing the recent population figures for Banyarwanda in Uganda. He alleged that the census results indicating that Banyarwanda are not among the top 10 tribes in Uganda are grossly inaccurate and suggest fabrication.
“It’s as if Banyarwanda are extinct. This is simply not true. Those figures are grossly inaccurate and are a clear fabrication that is unacceptable,” he said.
