Former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala has narrowly escaped death following an attempt to shot him in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb early this morning.
Unknown assailants gunneddown the official Car registration number H4DF 2138 inwhich Katumba was travelling in. Driver, Daughter and one soldiers have been reported dead while Katumba has been rushed to a yet to identify hospital but not in bad conditions.
According to reports, the assassins, riding on a motorcycle, shot at the General while he left his home for a burial of his mother-in-law. The incident happened on Kitosi road in Kisaasi.
Reports indicate that the General is safe and was rushed to Malcolm Hospital in Kisaasi and later referred to Nakaseero hospital.
Brig Flavia Byekwaso, the UPDF spokesperson said the driver of the former Minister was killed in the incident.
