The newly appointed Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balam Barugahara has been tasked with addressing key issues affecting the youth in the country. During the handing over ceremony at the Ministry headquarters, Minister Hellen Asamo emphasized the importance of prioritizing the needs of vulnerable groups, specifically youths with disabilities above the age of 18. She highlighted the challenges of youth unemployment, child labor, and teenage pregnancy that are prevalent in the country and called for collaborative efforts to combat these issues.
Minister Asamo advised Minister Barugahara to work alongside his colleagues in the Ministry to develop solutions, emphasizing the importance of engaging with the youth to understand their challenges and find sustainable ways to address them. In response, Minister Barugahare expressed his commitment to serving the government and the youth, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to social and economic development.
He acknowledged the need to support drug addicts and empower families economically to create a conducive environment for the youth to thrive. Minister Barugahara’s inclusive approach and willingness to collaborate with various stakeholders indicate a promising start to his tenure. With a focus on providing hope and opportunities for the youth, there is optimism for positive change and progress in addressing the pressing issues facing young people in the country.
